Nickname:

Motto:
Ten-year-old Joseph Martin hasn’t stopped building since he was chosen as a LEGO Factory design winner for his impressive Detachable Skyscraper model. Lately, he’s turned his attention to trains – using LEGO Digital Designer software to create the model train set of his dreams.

Still, learning that he had been chosen as a LEGO Factory design winner is probably the highlight of his "career" as a model designer: "We were away when the letter came, and I was really surprised when we got home and found out I had won," Joseph says, and continues: "It was pretty interesting – kids would even come up to me on the bus and say ‘Hey, you’re the guy who won the LEGO design contest!’" And the competition has only made Joseph more interested in design. What does he want to be when he grows up? "Maybe a LEGO designer."

From picture to model
Joseph likes designing complex models of real things that interest him. He plays the piano, and has built models of a piano – even one that plays itself! Another recent interest is building demolition. Can you construct a model building that collapses just the way you want it too when you remove a few key bricks? In building his Detachable Skyscraper, Joseph found it important to keep his eye on a picture of the real building the whole time he was working – modeling real life in LEGO bricks!
