Santa Fe Super Chief

The Santa Fe Super Chief is one of the most famous and instantly recognized trains of all time. With a beautiful design inspired by the American Southwest, this streamlined luxury passenger train was the premier way to travel during the golden age of railroading!

Launched in May of 1937, the Super Chief carried passengers from Chicago to Los Angeles in a record-making 39 hours and 45 minutes - a record for the route that still stands today! The cars were built from lightweight, fluted stainless steel, with elegant interiors lined with exotic wood paneling. The strikingly-colored engine typically pulled dining cars, sleeping cars, baggage cars, observation and lounge cars, and even a Railway Post Office where mail could be sorted along the way!

For all of its 35 years of shining service on the railways of America, the Sante Fe Super Chief proved itself to be the locomotive of choice for passengers who wanted to travel in comfort, speed and style.
